MM Beach, also known as North Port Kembla Beach, is a peaceful and often overlooked stretch of coastline located just north of the more popular Port Kembla Beach in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. The beach gets its name from the nearby former Metal Manufacturers site and is beloved by locals for its quiet atmosphere and natural beauty.
Unlike more commercial beaches, MM Beach offers a raw, untamed vibe. It’s a fantastic destination for those seeking solitude, long walks along the sand, or a scenic spot to sit and listen to the waves. The beach is also dog-friendly, allowing off-leash access, making it a favourite spot for pet owners.

While MM Beach isn’t recommended for swimming due to underwater rocks and a nearby sewer outlet, it remains a great location for fishing, photography, and coastal nature watching. Surfers sometimes take advantage of the small, inconsistent waves here, though it’s not considered a prime surf beach.
There are no lifeguards, shops, or public amenities directly on the beach, so visitors should come prepared. However, Port Kembla Beach and Port Kembla Pool are just a short walk away and offer full facilities including toilets, picnic areas, and a patrolled swimming zone.
MM Beach is perfect for locals and tourists looking for a laid-back experience, away from crowds and noise. Whether you’re walking your dog, using the fabulous outdoor gym, casting a fishing line, or enjoying a peaceful coastal stroll, MM Beach delivers a quiet charm that captures the essence of Australia’s natural seaside beauty.
