Port Kembla Beach is a beautiful and expansive stretch of coastline located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, relaxation, and recreation.

Known for its golden sands and clear blue waters, the beach is ideal for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, or simply enjoying a peaceful walk along the shore. Patrolled during peak times, it’s a safe and family-friendly destination. If you have physical restrictions, there is now a ramp to the beach, and you can reach out to Wollongong Council to organise access to amphibious wheelchairs, there are limitations, but this is a fantastic facility offered by council to become a more accessible home area for locals, and destination for our visitors.

Right next to the beach is the popular Port Kembla Pool, an Olympic-sized saltwater pool with beach-style entry and accessible facilities, making it perfect for people of all ages and abilities.

Within access to Port Kembla Beach itself, there is Paddy’s rocks where during low tide you will see people jumping from the rocks with glee, or others enjoying the calm waters of the unpatrolled Paddy’s Beach. Keep an eye out, or bring your snorkelling gear as there are a few gems to spot under the water nearby as well.

Families can also enjoy the nearby King George V Playground and shaded picnic areas, making it easy to spend a whole day outdoors.

Just a short drive or walk away, Hill 60 Lookout offers stunning panoramic views of the coastline and is a great spot for whale watching during migration season. The lookout also holds historical significance, with remnants of World War II military sites. Whether you’re there for the surf, the scenery, or the laid-back community vibe, Port Kembla Beach offers a complete coastal experience that combines relaxation with adventure, nature with history, and fun with tranquillity.
